The entire Coastal Bend is in mourning in the wake of the devastating death of 10-year-old Julian Galloway, a young boy whose strength and optimistic spirit inspired many people in a way that will never be forgotten.
Julian died just before Christmas after a long but courageous battle with brain cancer.
Julian passed on in the afternoon of Wednesday at 1:26 p.m. He was not alone. His parents were there with him. They were holding his hands as he breathed his last. His beloved toys were nearby. These toys are the ones that Julian has carried with him throughout his journey. That is how he knew that he was never alone. He was embraced by love and peace.
Julian was first diagnosed with brain cancer in the year 2019, just two days before Christmas. This was supposed to be a joyous season, but for Julian and his family, it was the end of a life full of joy and the beginning of a life-altering ordeal. Julian, with his strength and courage, faced every challenge with the toughness that no child should encounter.
Even at this young age, Julian has become a beacon of hope and awareness. At the tender age of 5, Julian has already begun to help raise awareness for childhood brain cancer. He has attended various events, spoken about his experiences, and even inspired others by just being who he is: a bright child with a warm smile, a kind heart, and an unafraid spirit.
During Julian’s fight, his whole community was ever-present for him and his family. Fund-raising events, benefit functions, and even many acts of kindness helped to take care of his family in terms of their medical requirements and day-to-day needs. More importantly, these events reminded his family that they never fought alone. Also, the love showered on Julian is a measure of how much Julian was loved.
Despite this, his strength was not overlooked. The Corpus Christi Police Department awarded him the honorary title of police officer not because of the badge or the uniform but because of the qualities of a true hero that he possessed. He was not afraid in the face of fear, happy in the face of pain, and determined even when the toughest days were ahead of him.
His family has thanked them profusely for the incredible support, prayer, and kindness they have been showered with. His family was able to cope with some of the toughest times in their lives because of the kindness extended to Julian.
Arrangements for the funeral are yet to be finalized, with the services set to take place after the festive holidays. The family has requested continued prayers and kind thoughts as they embank on the grief that no parent should ever experience. This holiday will be forever different for those people who knew Julian. While his loss brings a huge void, his light, strength, and fun loving personality can never ever be forgotten. Julian Galloway may be young, only twenty-eight years old. However, his contribution was huge, and they will live on through those people who were lucky enough to know him.
