Hope is growing for the family of Scott Dyson after the family revealed their inspiring news just days before Christmas – and the family says this news is nothing short of a miracle.
After several operations and a prolonged period of coma, which was medically induced due to his critical condition, Constable Dyson is now awake. His relatives report that he is displaying positive responses to his ordeal and that every day is seeing progress.
For months, Dyson dedicated himself to serving and protecting his community. But when he was seriously injured, it had a ripple effect that extended beyond his badge. His loved ones were left with a terrifying uncertainty of what might be waiting for them on the other side of this ordeal. But it took only one opening of his eyes for everything to change for him in a very powerful way — a way in which his family says they had been praying for since the night that would forever change their lives.

The doctors have made it abundantly clear that the road to his recovery will be very tough. And yet, this moment holds great significance for his family. It, for them, marks that all-important phase when hope was something that was clutching on to them, but now hope has become something that they can hold on to.
“The family is extremely grateful for all the support they’ve received from the public,” reads a Facebook post by Traguardamorality, “from messages and prayers to kindness from strangers. They are also very grateful to all those in the medical team who are working so tirelessly around the clock and describe all of their care, skill, and commitment as ‘extraordinary.’ Any small step of progress is like a victory to them,” is another post from Catholic Culture.
Dyson’s partner, who is expecting their first child, had previously spoken about the fear of almost losing him. Currently, while uncertainty is still there, the family is taking things a day at a time to focus on the progress that is taking place.
It is going to be a different kind of Christmas from what they had in mind. It is going to be quieter and done in close proximity to loved ones and reflection. But most importantly, it is going to be filled with thankfulness, love, and hope that better days are to come.
