Brielle “Brie” Bird has lost her battle after a very courageous fight with a recurrent form of neuroblastoma for the past five years. Brie has been only 9 years old, but the reach of the influence that she has brought to millions of people all around the globe extends beyond her short life.
Brie and her family were open with Brie’s experiences on their social media page, allowing people access to her life, which was full of faith, strength, and love. Brie’s journey was one that brought inspiration to so many people.
Her family broke the heartbreaking news of her death through an Instagram post, saying that Brie’s time on this earth was complete, and that she had finished what she was put on earth to do. Through her family, she was described as a true miracle, who brought people closer to her faith and showed them how good God is, and who shines so bright beyond her house’s walls, bringing light to everyone around her. It was also mentioned that she left them with one of the loveliest parts of her story, saying that her door will always be open and that the playroom light will be left on for her.
Brie has been on a journey since 2020, when she was initially diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. At the time, doctors found a huge tumor inside her abdomen, along with cancer that had spread to her back. Since then, she has been dealing with the most difficult times in her life with a spirit that is much stronger than her age.
After all that she had gone through, Brie and her family were finally able to rejoice over something that they had long prayed for: she had been pronounced cancer-free. This was a time of hope and relief and celebration. But this hope was abruptly shattered when the cancer came back in January of 2024. This had been the worst nightmare that no parent ought to have to face. This was according to Brie’s mother.
As time went on, the attention shifted from treating the disease to palliative care. In early July of 2025, hospice care was put in place for Brie. During this period, there was an emotional moment shared between Brie and her mother. Brie asked if she could remain home rather than returning to the hospital. This was because she was in so much pain and was scared. With an infinite display of love and sadness, she was given what she wanted in those final days of comfort.
The last few months of Brie’s life were filled with efforts from her loved ones to keep her occupied with happiness, warmth, and love. One of the most special occasions for Brie occurred on August 7, when she received a surprise package from one of her favorite stars, Ariana Grande. The surprise package contained Wicked-themed material, toys, nail paints, perfumes, and, most emotionally special, a video message. The message from Ariana called Brie a bright and inspirational light, filled with love and cyber-hugs for the bright girl. The gesture brought Brie immense happiness and left her with a feeling of being deeply appreciated. Although Brie lived far too briefly, her impact is enormous.
