An air of quiet sorrow has enveloped the Clooney family after the demise of George Clooney’s younger sister, Adelia “Ada” Zeidler. Ada Clooney died peacefully on Friday after fighting a long battle with cancer. She was 65.
In her last days on earth, Ada was surrounded by the people she cherished most. George Clooney has always maintained that he never reveals personal details of his family. His message of condolences has hidden the depths of how much he cherished his sister. He has always admired Ada and termed her as a very brave and tough woman. Despite suffering from cancer, she faced every problem that came along her way. She did so with lots of courage and humor. His sister meant the world to George Clooney. George and his wife Amal will miss her immensely.
Ada was famous for her strength and kindness, as well as her creative nature and generosity. One of the things that she dedicated herself to throughout her life was elementary art education at Augusta Independent Schools in the state of Kentucky, where she inspired many young lives. In doing so, she instilled creativity and confidence in her young charges.
Outside of her classroom, Ada was just as engaged in her community as she was in her teaching practice. She helped to bring her community together through her leadership role in a local book club, her inspiration through her active participation in her local arts guild, The Augusta Art Guild, and her pride of place as one day’s grand marshal of the Annual White Christmas Parade in Augusta.
Ada also leaves behind a loving family that will continue to hold dear the memory of this wonderful woman in their lives, in the form of parents Nick and Nina Clooney, husband Kenny, brother George Clooney, sons Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga, along with several other members in the extended family. Though she may be gone, the legacy of Ada lives on through the students she touched, the community she impacted, and the loving family she was so deeply a part of. It’s a legacy of a woman who was utterly without fear, a creative soul, and a woman who had such strength in every walk of her journey.
