James Van Der Beek is now diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, but he is not alone as his wife, Kimberly, is supporting him with all her might. After James posted a message of appreciation for fans, Kimberly posted, “Bouncing back, baby! You, my wizard, are full of so much strength and courage.”
In a video posted on social media, James appeared determined and optimistic as he threw a football and donned his signature Varsity Blues Moxon jersey. James also announced that his limited-edition jerseys are now available for fans to buy once again, for $80 for those that are signed and $40 for those that are unsigned, and all funds raised will go towards James’ treatment and other families with cancer. In a remembrance of last year’s support for him, James vowed that his fans could expect a quicker turnaround for his signed orders.
However, that’s not the end of it. James is partnering with Propstore for the Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction between December 5 and 7, 2025, to give his fans an opportunity of a lifetime to own some of his career mementos that mean so much to him. Items to be auctioned include Dawson’s prom necklace for Joey in Dawson’s Creek, his movie cleats, and the Coyotes hat in Varsity Blues.
“I’ve held on to all of these things for years until I could put them out,” James said. “Considering what I’ve been dealing with in my personal life, I think it’s a pretty opportune moment to let them all go.” While it is hard to let go of items so full of memories, he hopes fans who have supported him in his journey will love them as well.
All the while, James manages to remain hopeful and optimistic and finds the strength to keep going in his passion and love for his family and his surrounding environment.
